AMY'S HOUSE

A New Musical

Book, Music and Lyrics written by Mike Gowdy, Kelly Boucher, Cindy Lesser and Rosanne Gowdy.

Amy's House is loosely based on the story of Amy Archer, a Connecticut woman who, at the turn of the twentieth century, establishes one of the first nursing homes in the country. In order to keep her business alive and fulfill what she believes to be her purpose in life, Amy turns into a serial killer, poisoning her residents with arsenic-laced lemonade. The pressure of maintaining a double life, as well as constant strain brought on from the memories of the lives Amy has shattered, leads Amy's descent into madness. The show is a mix of Little Shop of Horrors, Sweeney Todd, and evil fun.

Listen to a few tracks from the show-

Little Lemonade - Amy invites old folks into her home and kills them off one at a time with poisoned lemonade in this upbeat, evil swing number

Set Me Free - Ruth, an elderly woman in the home, awakens from a comatose state and begs for Amy to free her from from this world

What's It Like - Mary, Amy's daughter, tells Franklin, a man working at her mother's house, what it's like when old people move in

Number's Don't Lie - Carl, a reporter in town, starts to realize that the number of obituaries he's writing about old folks staying in the Archer home seems suspicious

Unraveling - Amy struggles to separate reality from the people she's killed and keeps hearing as she descends into madness
